According to the Daily, I’m a “Right Wing Warrior.” I kinda like the sound of that…
Here is a quote from an excellent piece in The Daily on some of my recent projects:
“Last week, Meckler attended a forum of the Hacking Society in New York, where he joined with a predominantly left-learning group that included author and Democratic consultant Naomi Wolf and Rep. Jim Cooper, D-TN, to discuss ways networks could free up innovation. A few weeks before that, Meckler was among the speakers at the progressive Guiding Light Network conference in Seattle.
Meckler has also taken a senior strategist Read more…

Scott Rasmussen on the relationship between the voters and the political class. It’s not pretty
Never partisan, and virtually always the most accurate pollster, you’ve got to follow Scott Rasmussen’s polls if you want to know the mood of the American people. Rasmussen Reports is mandatory reading for me every morning. But beyond his polling, Scott is also one of the smartest guys commenting on politics today. In this column, Scott explains the incredible disconnect between the people of the country and the “political class.” Here’s a sample:
“Ultimately, the relationship between voters and politicians has gone sour because they Read more…

Criminal justice reform…here and abroad.
It is interesting to note that in this article on criminal justice reform in the UK from the Economist, they mention our friends at Right on Crime in Texas. Criminal justice reform is necessary not only here in the U.S., but all over the world. The issues are social, humanitarian, fiscal and political. They touch every part of of our society, and solving them is not a partisan issue. It’s an issue about which every American should care. You’ve heard me say it before…I’ll Read more…

We need more “amateurs” engaged in our democracy.
This is a great article in the Atlantic by my friend Eric Liu.
Eric is a true blue American patriot, and someone most would probably describe as from the left or progressive side of politics. He’s one of a growing group of people of good faith working on the idea of patriotic civic involvement. He and I agree that the republic has drifted dangerously far from the average citizen and that we need to be actively engaged in the fight for self governance. We Read more…

If you miss Andrew Breitbart, you’ll love this tribute song.
It’s been a relatively short time since we lost Andrew Breitbart. He lived a lot in his far too short life. He affected millions in the way they look at politics and political commentary. He was never afraid. And the longer he was around, the more it seemed like he was everywhere. A big conference…Andrew was there. A news story got hot…Andrew was there. A tea party event…Andrew was there. It was literally like the man was everywhere. And now, in a way, he actually Read more…

Good, family television. Still Being Made? Yep.
Some old friends of mine are responsible for a new TV show being launched on Sunday. Middle Class Wipeout, Brought to You by Both Political Parties and Years of Cronyism
We are indeed witnessing a wipeout of the American middle class of epic proportions. Many try to point the finger of blame at one party or another, but they are both complicit. The new “American Dream” may be turning into a nightmare. The facts are stubborn things. Read them here, if you dare. Read more…

How Big Government is Killing California
“When you’ve lost the entrepreneurs, free-spirits, and dreamers, you’ve lost the Golden State.”
More reason from Reason Magazine. California, arguably the most beautiful and environmentally diverse state in the nation is well on its way to destroying the average person’s ability to live here. Millions of people have left California for the more friendly economic opportunities of other states and the outflow continues. As a lifelong resident, I am looking to leave. The roots run deep here, so it’s difficult, but as a sane Read more…

Retirement Costs Sinking States – Yeah…Only the Politicians Didn’t Know This Was Coming
The irony of this is that it has been predicted for years. But politicians have covered it up because they knew they would be retired long before the chickens came home to roost. Well…the chickens are close to home now. And it’s a flock in the multi-billions for most states and many counties and cities. Many are fiscally doomed. Story from the WSJ. Read more…
